Why Us

Holidays

Award-winning holiday parks

The Jones family has been creating memorable holidays for over 50 years. It all began in 1968 when Alwyn and Olive Jones bought their first caravan park in Abermule. They didn’t know much about caravans (and joke they’re still learning), but they knew how to offer a warm welcome.

Today, their son Glenn and his wife Hannah care for Pearl Lake, Rockbridge Park, and Arrow Bank – three five-star holiday parks known as Discover Parks. Each one reflects the family’s way of doing things: friendly, relaxed, with a commitment to quality and always with guests at the heart.

Our ethos

Quality service

You can count on our team for friendly, reliable service. We’re proactive, responsive and always looking to improve – so if something’s not quite right, please tell us. Your feedback really matters.

Eco-conscious

We’re lucky to live in some of the UK’s most unspoilt countryside and we’re passionate about protecting it. From changing habits that harm the planet to supporting wildlife, we’re committed to living and working in a more nature-friendly way.

Community first

Our parks are family-run, and we want every guest to feel safe, respected, and right at home. Some guests form long-lasting friendships; others come for peace and space. There’s no pressure to mingle, but everyone can feel like they belong.

Truth and transparency

We’re are a family-owned business – not part of a large group. We have an ethos of always trying to do the right thing because we want our owners to be able to say what a fantastic time they’ve had with us. Our sales journey is transparent and honest. We won’t pull the wool over your eyes

Our green initiatives

We’re passionate about protecting the beautiful countryside around us. From recycling to using solar energy and electric vehicles, we’re always looking for new ways to be greener. Every action counts, and together with our guests, we’re helping to ease the strain on our planet.

David Bellamy awards

We’re incredibly proud that Pearl Lake, Rockbridge, and Arrow Bank have each earned gold and silver David Bellamy Conservation Awards.

These recognise our commitment to conservation and the environment through woodland and hedgerow management, species protection, recycling, better waste systems, and the use of electric vehicles.

In 2024, all three parks completed the ‘Home Sweet Home’ challenge by installing new bird, bat, and owl boxes. This year, we added nature signage to encourage and educate guests about birds, animals, and wildflowers around the parks.

Local community

Based on the edge of two villages and just outside a small town – we’re at the heart of our local communities. Providing employment in rural areas and boosting the local economy is what we’re all about. We take steps to look after our natural environment too with hides, feeders, walks and wild areas. All our parks are advocates of the David Bellamy Award scheme and hold various awards.

We sponsor local events, host local groups and buy from local companies as often as we can. Our owner, Glenn Jones, takes an active role in Herefordshire tourism organisations – promoting this wonderful county far and wide.

Our charity work

£13,000 given to charity in 2024!

Each year, we raise funds for charities that hold personal significance for our team and owners. We also donate raffle prizes to local charities and host fundraisers for causes such as Children in Need, Air Ambulance, and the Stroke Association, among others.

In 2024, to celebrate 25 years at Pearl Lake, owners Glenn and Hannah Jones donated £1,000 each to 13 charities nominated by our owners. These charities, with personal connections to our community, included hospices, MND, the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, Alzheimer’s Research, bereavement support, and dog-related causes.

Our team

We’re proudly independent and family-run, with owners Glenn and Hannah actively involved in the day-to-day running of our parks. Our team are professionals, but we don’t believe in scripted service – we value creativity, character, and a touch of quirkiness. This means our guests enjoy genuine, heartfelt service from people who truly care.
