As the Christmas season approaches, Herefordshire gets its sleighbells on with a whole host of events to get the festive season off with a bang. There’s pantomime (oh yes, there really is!), winter wonderlands, real reindeer and a couple of brilliant events in two bordering counties. Find out what’s on in Herefordshire in December in our blog!

Until the 3rd January 2026
Who doesn’t love a panto to properly get into the festive feel? Mother Goose runs at the Courtyard Centre for Arts in Hereford until the New Year. There’s going to be lots of egg jokes – how egg-citing! Cracking good night out, etc!
From a professional cast it’s the first time Mother Goose has come to Hereford. Make it an afternoon/night to remember with a meal at the Courtyard cafe bar either before or after the show.

Tuesdays & Fridays in December.
What better way to spend a crisp winter night than cwtching with some animals at the Kington Small Breeds Farm. All the animals are inside, and their homes are lit with sparkly lights. Your ticket includes access to the animals and a hot chocolate on arrival. On Tuesday’s the farms tearooms will be open and on Friday’s there’s a food van on site.
If you’re under 2 – you’re free! Animals include donkeys, alpaca, various goats, miniature pigs and miniature horses!

6th –24th December
A live, magical theatre experience for everyone but especially those under 7. There’s puppetry, songs and characters to fall in love with. Two daily shows at 11 and 2pm – so you’ll be back home in time for bed!
It’s all happening at the Courtyard Centre for the Arts in Hereford.

4th – 7th December
Why not strike out and head to Worcester for their incredible annual Victoria Fayre. If you don’t fancy driving all that way, and don’t want the parking hassle – head to Hereford and catch the train. It’s a lovely route that takes you over a viaduct and under the Malverns.
The Victorian Fayre is in the city centre with about 200 stalls. There’s warming street foods, art, crafts and gifts to be had. There’s also entertainers at every turn to get you in the Christmas mood. It’s all free and you’ve 4 days to choose from.

10th December
For lovers of the traditional Christmas sound – you can’t beat carols, music and readings in the awesome ambience of Hereford Cathedral.
Performed by renowned choir, Ex Cathedra based in Birmingham. Book early for this one.

Various dates in December
Clearwell caves lie beneath the Forest of Dean on the Herefordshire/Gloucester border. It’s about an hour from Discover Parks, but well worth the drive. It’s a natural cave system that’s been mined for centuries. There are nine caverns and during December Santa turns up!
There’s an underground cafe selling drinks and snacks and a magical world to be found as the animals prepare for the big day – underground.

13th –14th December
The Old House, also known as the Black & White House, dominates Hereford’s High Town. For one December weekend only, Father Christmas drops by to meet children and hand out small gifts.
The 17th century butcher’s shop is decorated for the festive season and gives a real flavour of life in Jacobean England.

13th December
This market will have you stepping back into Dickensian times, feeling like you’ve a part in A Christmas Carol! The town centre, Corn Square and Broad Street are stuffed with stalls selling local produce, gifts and handmade bits and bobs…ideal for those late Christmas gifts.
There’s Victorian themed entertainment and you can have a poke around the brilliant independent shops that Leominster is synonymous with.

24th December
Cock you little finger out and enjoy afternoon tea from the best china! The Green Dragon Hotel is an iconic building in Hereford’s Broad Street. It’s got a green dragon on the top so you’ll know you’re there!
Classic afternoon tea includes sandwiches, scones and savoury treats, all swilled down with a nice drop of bottomless English Breakfast or freshly ground coffee. Cocktails are also available if you’re feeling reckless!
