One of Herefordshire’s leading holiday park owners is fresh back from the British Holiday & Home Parks Association’s (BH&HPA) Annual Conference at London’s QE11 Centre.
North Herefordshire MP Sir Bill Wiggin, (pictured here with Hannah, Cerys & Glenn Jones, Discover Parks) states how vital businesses like theirs are in his constituency, “supporting the local economy and creating employment in rural areas.”
Glenn Jones, was representing the ‘Heart of England’ branch at the conference. He is the MD of Discover Parks, caravan parks, based in the villages of Shobdon, Eardisland and just over the border outside the Mid Wales town of Presteigne.
“It was great to be back in Westminster at the heart of government, making our case and representing the dynamic holiday parks sector.“ says Glenn. “My points of discussion ranged from the policing of illegal travellers, to the rising living wage costs whilst dealing with inflation alongside discussing the importance of our sector for employment and revenue in rural areas.”
The BH&HPA is committed to lobbying and representing its members’ interests to government and policymakers at all levels. They also advise on all aspects of park management, through advice services, publications, seminars, an authoritative journal and website.
“It’s great that such an association exists and their conference is always informative”, says Glenn, “There were useful talks and fascinating workshops to take part in. From consumer trends such as AI, discussion on the ingredients for family business success, the future of liquid gas in the UK through to energy security, net zero and what sustainable working looks like.”
